Positive EU assessment of the Serbian accreditation system for 2015
International activitiesThe European Commission’s "Serbia 2015 Progress Report" published on 10th November 2015 in Brussels, provided a positive assessment of the Serbian accreditation system. The following sector specific fields pertaining to internal market and free movement of goods (5.1 Chapter 1: Free Movement of Goods) were analysed: standardisation, accreditation, metrology and market surveillance.
Pursuant to the Stabilisation and Association Agreement and primary objectives to be attained during the EU accession process, the EC report provides the analysis of the Serbian legislation, administrative capacities, sector specific strategies and policies, and market development when compared with the EU acquis requirements.
Progress was reported in the field of conformity assessment and accreditation given that the Accreditation Body of Serbia (ATS) signed in October 2014 the new International Accreditation Forum Multilateral Recognition Agreement that, in addition to product certification, now includes management system certification. It was concluded once again that ATS staffing levels remained insufficient.
